Sofa Stone & Beach Tour

The tour departs Port Zante at 9:00 AM wending its way through Historic Basseterre where the wow factor begins. On an open air safari, being bathed by tropical breeze, Historic Basseterre comes alive as your tour guide engages you for 15 minutes highlighting the main attractions of the city. We will then take a 15 minute drive off the beaten tracks through the St. Peters Parish where the next part of the adventure begins. Equipped with sneakers we then take a moderate walk for 15 minutes to the sofa stone that sits atop monkey hill.

At the top we stop for 30 minutes to take in the most uniquely astounding panoramic view of the Basseterre and the S.E. Peninsular, but also to the sister island of Nevis and even Monsterrat, on a clear day.

Now you are left to try and unravel the mystery of the sofa stone. Obviously hewn to its current shape by the hands of an ancient culture, we are left to wonder. Was it a sacrificial alter, a place of worship, what is the meaning of the seven smaller stones that surround it, what rituals were performed there, when and by whom?

The fact that a certain religious denomination secretly visits the stone during the full moon only, further lends to the mystique. The front of the stone faces the sunset. If one wishes to be there that late, the trajectory of fading sunlight reflecting on the stone will trigger your imagination and convince you that this site has religious implications.

Armed with your binoculars you can sweep the city from the airport to the sea port, Nevis and everything else between, armed with your cameras, you can capture one of the enduring mysteries on St. Kitts. The sofa stone.

After a 15 minute walk back to the safari we now take a drive for 15 minutes to your next destination Frigate Bay Beach where we will stop by Shiggidy Shack for 1 hour.
